Little Bytham Parish Council
Chairperson’s Annual Report May 7th 2026
There are 4 Parish Councillors at present:
Chair: Beth Hodgson
Councillors: Steve Smith, John Sharpe, James Hodgkin
Ron Hoyes handed in his resignation just before his 90th birthday in August 2025. The PC thanked him for his commitment.
Both Steve Smith and John Sharpe are long standing members of the Parish Council and the PC are very grateful for their experience and knowledge. James Hodgkin joined in 2024 and has continued to be a great asset to the PC with all that he does for the Parishioners.
Chris Hatch continues as Clerk. The PCs are very grateful for his vast experience.
The Parish Council has been very well supported and informed by Councillor Penny Robins and Councillor Charlotte Vernon.
Main issues and interests dealt with during the year
Defibrillator –
The defibrillator continues to be registered on ‘Defib Finder’. It is regularly checked by Cllr Hodgson and the details are updated on The Circuit as required.
A free training session for CPR and AED (Automatic External Defibrillator) was arranged for all parishioners and took place on 6th June at Little Bytham Village Hall. This was a great success and everyone who attended concluded that they would feel much more confident dealing with a medical emergency in future.
Bythams School –
The PC has continued to support the Bythams School, paying for ‘Literacy experience activities’ for both KS1 and KS2, run by a local Little Bytham Educational firm.
Highways –
The PC were informed that the requested 30 mph speed limit has been passed by SKDC (on the road by the Spinney playground) and will be changed in due course.
Children’s Christmas Party –
The PC continues to fund the children’s Christmas party. Little Bytham has now joined with Castle Bytham’s party. This was well attended and a great success.
Little Bytham Village Hall Heaters –
The PC were informed that Little Bytham Village Hall heaters were old and were not adequate enough to keep the hall warm. The PC funded the cost of the new hall heaters which are now in full use.
Flooding – Parishioners on Station Rd have been dealing with repairs after floods to their homes over the last year. The PC have had contact with Anglian Water to support residents. The PC have also contacted Alicia Kearns MP, who in turn has written to Anglian Water. This continues to be an ongoing issue which will continue to be supported by the PC.
